Filipinos are naturally religious. It is in our nature. Churches all over the country are teeming with people unlike those in European nations. I remember one time when a priest, who is a family friend told me that only a maximum of 6-10 people attend mass in France. Who's to be credited for the evident devoutness of the Filipinos? The Spaniards who introduced Catholicism to us? Could be.

At school, we are educated to say daily prayers and most of us, like me, grew up in a home with strict Catholic faith. We had prayers memorized like the back of our hand but come to think of it, do we really put our faith into practice or is everything just a show? Do every bit of invocation that comes out of our mouth mean something to us? Is going to church only an obligation and nothing more? Is everything more than just a mere tradition passed from generation to generation?

Let's face it. Involvement in religious activities is mandated by the society. It is one of those customs that we can't get out of our skin. Rarely do we find people who put it into heart what they do with regards to being spiritually intact with the Lord. To everyone else, everything is just a matter of reponsibility and routinary exercise.
